In the series opener, Grace meets up with her "last-chance" angel when, after a night of drinking, she runs down and kills a pedestrian with her Porsche. In desperation, she calls out for God's help; and a scruffy, tobacco-spitting man, who calls himself Earl Leon Rippy , appears. Unfolding his wings to reveal his divine origins, Earl tells her that she's headed for Hell and asks if she's ready to turn her life over to God. When he finally disappears, the person she struck is also gone and it's as if the accident never happened.
The end of "Bring It On, Earl". Yukon is sharing a joke with Grace, the next he's gunned down by his psychopathic and drug-addicted asshole of a brother. In "Popcorn", Grace, Ham, Rhetta, Henry, Leo, Grace's cousin and a friend of Ham's pull off what might be the best prank in the entire show, and in the middle of their hysteria after pulling it off, Leo pulls Grace away to reveal that he found the skull of his next door neighbor's mother, re-opening a year-old homicide. My Girl Is a Slut: Grace loves to boink and has waxed poetic about it to Earl.
God save me from spoilers. So I can only be but so sympathetic that Grace spent a large portion of the episode naked and handcuffed to the bed. That just reeks of poor planning, you know? This does not excuse Ham for throwing a hissy fit when he found her. Has she ever said she was a one-man woman?
